About

My name is Kevin Polulak, though most of you probably know me as soh_cah_toa. Why soh_cah_toa? I'm not really sure. It doesn't make much sense considering how horrible I am with mathematics.

Anyway, I'm an undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science. I've been writing code for about 4 years and have really come to love C and Perl. Perl was the first language that I really took seriously so it has a special place in my heart. It's my baby. I'm a big advocate of free and open source software. As you can probably guess, I'm a total Linux geek. To be exact, Fedora is my OS of choice.

I am going to be working with the Parrot Foundation this summer as part of Google Summer of Code 2011. I'm going to be building a new debugger for Parrot. Parrot is a virtual machine that executes bytecode for dynamic languages such as Rakudo Perl 6, Lua, Python and much more. If you'd like, you can read my proposal here. I'm very excited and I think this is going to be a really great summer.

That is why I've started this blog. As part of my GSoC project, I'm going to blog weekly about my progess with the debugger. Among these posts you can expect to read about my plans, successes, frustrations, suggestions, rants, ideas, and musings regarding the debugger.

Enjoy!
